China patents surge in 2009 as U.S. filings plunge

GENEVA (Reuters) - China bucked an unprecedented decline in global patent filings last year, boosting its total by 29.7 percent, while the United States saw a fall of 11.4 percent, the world patent watchdog WIPO said on Monday.
